SAAR PPC

Sponsored by NHPC Limited under its Downstream Works Division and implemented by Arohan Foods Private Limited, SAAR Pig Producer Company Limited was established in 2020, bringing together 2,500 women pig rearers from Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts of Assam. This Farmer Producer Company (FPC) was created to provide a platform for sustainable growth and improved livelihoods for these women. Along with capacity-building programs, a state-of-the-art Common Facility Center (CFC) was set up as part of this initiative. The CFC features a 400-sow capacity breeding farm, a scientific slaughtering unit, a processing center for value-added pork products, and a feed mill. Through this initiative, producers now have access to timely veterinary services and enhanced opportunities for sustainable economic growth, strengthening the entire piggery value chain in the region.
